Please remember that there are many others working behind the scenes who all help to keep our surgery running smoothly.
Dr David Warren
Dave is one of the proprietors of Mira Mar Veterinary Hospital. He came to Albany from Perth in 2008 with his partner and 2 young daughters to begin a new career as a mixed practice vet, and hasn't left! Dave spent many years in the workforce prior to becoming a veterinarian, and so brings with him many life skills.
Dr Jim Darmody
Jim is the other proprietor of Mira Mar Veterinary Hospital. Jim is very experienced in all aspects of mixed veterinary practice having worked throughout Australia and the UK. His career commenced here in Albany in 1999, before he moved back in 2007 with his family for the country lifestyle. Jim's wife Renae is also a vet, and they have 3 children.
Dr Renae Darmody
Renae (who is also Jim's wife) has been working back at the clinic for 2-3 days each week since 2011, initially as a break from raising a young family! She is an experienced small animal clinician with some horse background. She also has a special interest in small animal ultrasound. Outside of work she is busy with 3 small kids, and trying to train 2 crazy labradors!
Dr Jialin Tan
Jialin is our most recent addition to the veterinarian side of the team, taking up some of the slack created by Jim and Renae's long service leave in 2017, and also covering Erin's maternity leave over 2017-2018. Jialin has recently moved to Albany from Townsville with her husband and two young sons, She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge in the small animal field, with anaesthesia, emergency medicine and pet behaviour as some of her areas of interest. We are sure you and your pet will enjoy meeting her.
Dr Erin Macdonald
Erin is an ex-Albany girl who has returned home in late 2013 to take up a position at Mira Mar Vets. Erin has previously worked in Kalgoorlie and has an interest in horse work. She has a very calm and gentle approach, and a methodical and experienced way of dealing with cases.
Erin has just returned to work after the birth of her first baby in October. She is spending some 'baby-free time' working at Mira Mar Vets on one day each week. We are loving having her back in the clinic and we are sure your pets will too!
Andrea White (Registered Veterinary Nurse)
Andrea is an Albany girl who returned to town at the end of 2017, and has quickly become a valuable member of the MMVH team. Andrea completed her training as a veterinary nurse in July 2018, and in her spare time enjoys training her dog Kaiser, and rearing orphaned kangaroo joeys! She also runs our Puppy Preschool classes, so you might see her with your new puppy. We know you will love to meet Andrea - she has a bright, bubbly personality and will make you and your pet feel very welcome.
Clare O'Mara (Registered Veterinary Nurse)
Clare is a newer veterinary nurse to join our team, starting with us in early 2018, and also has recently moved to Albany. She is an experienced and qualified veterinary nurse, having worked in a variety of both city and rural practices in WA. She loves living in the country and can't wait to experience all that the Albany region has to offer!
Ellie Hummerston (Registered Veterinary Nurse)
Ellie joined the Mira Mar Vets team in early 2018, returning to Albany after an exciting career in a number of busy vet practices in Sydney. Ellie is a dedicated veterinary nurse and proud pet owner of Summer the Cattle Dog X, as well as raising Ruby the kangaroo in her spare time!
Jodie Gaunt (Registered Veterinary Nurse)
You may remember Jodie from back in 2010, when she worked for Mira Mar Vets for 18 months. Jodie returned to Albany in 2016, and has also returned to work on a casual part-time basis while she raises her two young sons. We have loved having her smiling face back in the clinic. Welcome back Jodie!
Emma Fairley (Registered Veterinary Nurse)
Emma joined our staff in 2016 as a return to work part-time while raising her two young daughters. She qualified as a vet nurse in 1995, and has had a varied career; working in both NSW and WA as a vet nurse, but more recently as a human paramedic in Albany. Emma also has a zoology degree and an obvious passion for wildlife rehabilitation - she can often be seen at the clinic with a fledgeling bird to feed! She brings a calm, confident outlook to our team, and we're sure you'll enjoy meeting her.
Amanda Poett (Administration)
Amanda became the practice's book-keeper in July 2013. Amanda has previously been a veterinary nurse (and still works the occasional reception shifts!); and besides helping to run her family's own business, she is also completing further studies in the book-keeping field.
